Why We Are Here

wood-workingSomething is missing in the world, and more than a few of us have noticed.

Craftsmanship — the rewards that come making something with your hands, as well as the rewards of sharing that knowledge with friends and neighbors.  Skills like woodworking are being sidelined by competing activities, and forgotten by amateurs. We want to change that by offering a place to let skills and the passion for them grow, not only to benefit individuals, but also our whole community.

The North Coast Community Woodshop is a membership-run, non-profit organization devoted to the education, preservation, and participation in the craft of woodworking. We have a well-equipped shop that would enable you to tackle almost any woodworking project.

At any given time you could see fine furniture being built, craft projects underway, or a bowl or two being turned. Your involvement can range from participation in our skill building shop projects or your own personal projects; the choice is all yours.

Our classes are designed for the beginner. We offer lathe classes, classes on hand tools, classes on specific machinery and basic joints. Members can be involved in different shop projects with instructions from seasoned woodworkers, this is one of the best way to gain knowledge and experience. Our classes are open to the public, discounted price for members. Visit us at our shop or at our booth at the Duct Tape Festival.

Do you have any classes scheduled for this summer? I would be interested in learning to make the segmented bowl and the spinning technique.

Elizabeth, sorry but we don’t have any classes scheduled this summer. However, we are planning on publishing our fall and winter class schedule around September or so. We hope you’ll sign up for updates to the website and this way you’ll get the latest info. We hope to see you at a class this fall!

I am an individual who is downsizing with a supply of hardwood lumber, plywood and mdf suitable for craft or furniture projects at bargain prices. Any interest?
