On Thursday 5/2/13, several volunteers met at the future facility of NCCW to break down the old skate track to salvage the wood, (and there is lots of it), to utilize in the construction of work benches.
Enough boards were salvaged tonight to build 4 work benches. There is still lots of wood to be salvaged. So the plan for this Saturday 5/4/13, is for some volunteers to continue breaking down the skate track and others to work with Rick Sheahan to build the work benches.
In addition to all the above activities for Saturday, we plan to take a couple of volunteers to Lorain to pick up the woodworking machines that are being donated to NCCW by Bob McDonald. Bob inherited the machines from his father in-law. These machines will then be delivered to the facility and installed at a later date according to our TBD floor plan.
We have a busy day planned for Saturday. We hope to see you there at 33501 – A Lake Rd. Avon lake, beginning at 9:30am till whenever.. The PATCH, a local on-line newspaper will be there to do a story. So wear your best work gloves and bring a nice heavy shinny hammer (LOL) and a crow bar if you have one.
Oh and by the way, if you haven’t made a donation yet (non-refundable and non-tax deductible at this point) or would like to donate additional funds, bring a check with you. We sure could use the money to buy some supplies and other necessities. Any and all donations of time and money are greatly appreciated and we thank you!
